I have a similar problem as ron hughes dated 5/27/04
HP printer 7260
It works fine until I go to explorer and it freezes the
computer and reboots if the printer is attached.
Explorerorks fine if the printer is not hooked up to USB
port. I tried the solution for Ron but it did not work.
Any other ideas?

I am using WIN 98. I've tried finding answers at the
microsoft site--no luck
My old printer work fine using parallel.
I think a setting is wrong since my computer crash and all
was reloaded. Any more ideas?

I am so sorry I gave you the wrong information...
Try these articles
HOW TO: Troubleshoot Printing Problems in Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows
Millennium Edition

There is a driver on the HP web site with a March 2004 timestamp, maybe newer than
yours.

Try another cable, could be yours is faulty.
