I am a system support professional for a large banking
firm. Here I am facing spool error problem. Morning,
when I am starting the machine, it will print perfectly
and after taking 10 or 20 printouts, it will give a
spool32.exe error and same time, there is no printer
showing on the printer folder. This time, if I am
restarting the machine, the printer will show on the
folder and can take the printout. For resolving, I added
the spool file on startup and edited win.ini and added
entry as load=c:\windows\system\spool32.exe. For 1 month,
it worked perfectly and again, it is showing problems.
The user is complaining to me and I could not find a
solution. Just now I went through the Knowledge Base
Article No. 167775, it is stating that, this problem will
not occure on Windows 98. But I am facing this problem on
windows 98 and not on windows 2000 machines and windows
XP. Pls give me a solution as soon as possible.

This problem is generally associated with a network or running some
utilities in the background. Make sure that you have the latest driver
available from the manufacturer of your printer.

If you are on a Novell Network, make sure that you have the latest Netware
client for your workstations and that in Network properties, Novell NetWare
Client, Protocol Preferences, make sure that the protocol order lists IPX as
the first protocol.

See these articles from Novell.

If you are using Norton AntiVirus, check for updates. See this article from
Symantec:

Error: "Spool32 error" when printing to a network printer

If you are using McAfee VirusScan, then see this article from McAfee.

Spool32 Errors When Printing After Installing VirusScan on Windows 95, 98
and ME

http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/faq.asp?docid=68341&CategoryId=271&chat=

If the printer is not a local printer, install the printer as a local

printer. Once installed, go to the Printers folder, right-click the printer
icon and select Printer Properties. Click the Details tab and click the Add
Port button. Click to select Other and then click OK. In the Port Name
dialog box, enter the path to the shared Network printer. It will take the
form of \\server\SharedPrinterName.

Print directly to the printer. In the printers folder, right-click the
printer icon and select Printer Properties. Click the Details tab and click
the Spool Settings button. Click to select Print directly to the printer.

I had implemented the same solution, but some branches it
is working perfectly. But other branches, it worked only
for 2 days. Still the same error is coming. I could not
put the spool settings to print directly to the printer.
If I am doing this, the application will never print the
matter. So I have to select it as spool and have to be in
EMF or RAW. But the same problem is coming. Is any other
solutions.

Anyway thanks for the first solution.
