after fixing some problems yesterday, i shut down my pc
and today when i booted up, the background pattern was the
same but the screen is all these beautiful rainbow
colors. first i thought my monitor was going but now, the
resolution seems to have gone back to 640x480 by itself,
though when i right click on the display icon in the
taskbar, it shows 800x600 16-bit. the REALLY weird part
is that all the windows are too big, like when the
resolution really is 640x680 and you can't reach
the 'apply' buttons--but if i move the cursor towards what
would be the top of the screen, the window repositions
itself so i can get to whichever button i need, or the top
of the page so i can move it or close it or minimize it or
maximize it or whatever.
the entire webpage bacground is pastel versions of the
same colors on the blank screen [like it's bleeding
through the white background or something]. to me, i
sound like a psycho, but believe me, folks--it's really
happening. anyone have a clue [i kind of like it--a lot!!
but i have a feeling it's not going to last long...

baffled--

and thanks for any help offered

Restart your PC in MSDOS mode.

At: C:/ type in SCANREG/RESTORE

Press Enter

Pick a Registry date from yesterday or the day before when the PC was
working OK.

That should fix it.

thanks, john, but didn't have to--the next reboot was
fine. what a flip-out, though... it was actually really
cool!!! i will, though, write down your advice for if
there's a next time.

thanks again-
