View Full Version : Unable To Access Google and Ebay Sites

I have recently been unable to access Google or Ebay. Each time I get "The
Page Cannot Be Displayed" message.

I checked for Spyware by using Spybot but that didn't help either.

On the Internet Options I changed the Security setting to Medium Low and the
Privacy setting to Accept All Cookies.

Still no luck.

Seems like some adjustment to the Registry is required.

Can anyone help?

Look for a file c:\windows\HOSTS if it exists rename it hosts.old then retry
Do not delete the file the hosts file is a useful gadget, but there are some
programs that write bogus entries to it

That is the usual fix so you might want to post to an IE newsgroup and ask
for help. By the way, did you have your settings set so that the file
extension shows? There can be more than one hosts file and you need to
rename the one with no file extension.
