Desk Top Icon Drift

after starting computer, my desk top icons are about 1/4
inch lower than the previous start up position.
every time I start computer, Icons drift lower.
Doesn't matter what the location, they relocate lower on
my screen. i can not find any option to lock them in
place. windows 98 second edition.

any fix, short of re-install 98 start up disk ?

The icons may be getting incorrect information about the visible screen
area. Grab the task bar with the mouse at a blank spot, and move it to the
top border. Move it back. Do the icons jump down and then back up
properly? If so, try rebooting and see if the problem still occurs.
