My computer was put together by a friend of mine but I do
know it had windows 98 on it. It was working fine until
one day when we turned it on and when it got to the
desktop everything was huge. WHen I right clicked to
change the resolution that part was off the screen and I
couldn't move the box or scroll down to see it to change
those options. SO I thought if I pulled out the graphics
card and put it back in the slot( while the computer was
off) and then restart the computer it may have reset the
resolution but it didn't. and instead nothing came up on
the moniter. I tried two different moniters and nothing
came on the screens. I also tried putting another
graphics card from another computer and switching them
that still did not work. I made sure they were in tight
and screwed them in. Why wont anything show up on the
monitor. The moniter turns green and then shuts off when
the computer turns on.Help what do I do I cant afford to
get another computer?

Either you have re-installed the video adapter card incorrectly, you have it
incorrectly connected to the monitor, or the process of removing and
replacing it caused it to fail. You should borrow and install a new video
card to determine whether or not the present one has failed. If it has you
can purchase a new card instead of a new computer.

To solve your original problem, boot to safe mode (press and hold Ctrl
before Windows starts, and select Safe Mode from the menu) and select a
smaller screen size. Select Apply (even if nothing changed), and next time
you boot Windows the Settings screen will be accessible.

Thank you I will try that. I wish I had found out about
this newsgroup before I tried to fix it myself.

Thanks Jennifer
