View Full Version : ACCESSORIES GROUP

I can't figure this out. My father called long distance
with a problem. He used to go START PROGRAMS ACCESSORIES
and then to wherever he needed to go. Now he claims that
when he goes to START and PROGRAMS, there's no ACCESSORIES
category as there always was, and the first one is Adobe.
I thought maybe he needed to move up, but he claims there
is no arrow because there are no additional categories.
Hope this makes sense and someone can help. Thanks.

Hi Steven,

The Start - Accessories group are nothing more than shortcuts.
If you have Win98 also, right click on the Start Button and select
Explore. Navigate to Start menu and expand the Programs group.
Right click on Accessories and click Copy. Send the copied folder
to your father by email. Have him right click on the Start Button and
select Explore. Navigate to Start menu and expand it. Now drag the
folder you sent him to the Programs group. When he goes into the Start
button he may finds some bad shortcuts that do not apply to his system.
He can then right click on them and delete them one by one.

Hey there Bert-

First, thanks for the quick reply. I have Windows ME, so
I have to come up with a way for him to do it himself. He
was playing...went to his CONTROL PANEL, then the WINDOWS
SETUP TAB, and although ACCESSORIES WAS ALREADY CHECKED,
he uncheck and checked it again, and then supposedly got
an ACCESSORIES label at the bottom of his programs list,
but it's only for communications...cable, etc. Nothing he
had before in there. Thanks...

I doubt there's much difference between the two.
I would be glad to email you a copy of one from Win98se
if you want.

Thanks...I'll take you up on that. Please exclude
explicit and easy directions for me...and my even less
computer literate father. . Thanks.
