View Full Version : ahhhh!!!! new memory !!!! no cd!!!!! help!!!!

as the title sugests im ****ed at this sodin computer and microsoft for making it so blady hard to modify ur computer!!!.

i have no cd for the comp as it was bought secound hand its running on 64mb of sdramm and im trying to upgrade it by another 64mbs but the new hardware section cant find it or the drivers because its searching for a temp file/path even though i can find the srammtd.vxd file it cant??????.

also when trying to run the stick from scratch the comp finds it then either tells u to restart or asks for the start up cd or mentions VPICP ??? dont have the cd tried restarting dont make no difference and i dont have a clue wot vpicp is??

has anyone had similier problems? can u help is there a wisard out there that can shake a stick at microsoft and help me out?? pls leave a reply many thanx.

If the memory that you added is compatible with your system and compatible
with the old memory, then it should be recognized by the BIOS when you boot
and Windows will see it. You do not need to add any drivers from Microsoft
or anyone else to make new memory work with your system. You do not need to
run the Add new hardware wizard since there are no special drivers to make
this work.

Things to try...

Check to be sure that it's seated firmly.

Remove the original and try the new by itself. If it works fine with the
new module, then put the old one back in the other position. If it still
doesn't work then it's possible that the two memory modules are not
compatible with each other. Check your computer documentation to see what
type of memory is required for an upgrade. You might also try removing the
old memory and replacing it with a 256 or 512 module.
