I've lost my Quicklaunch toolbar and can't find any way of
getting it back. Right clicking on the task bar and
clicking on Quicklaunch puts the check mark beside it but
it doesn't show up. Any idea what I've done and how to
undo it?

Hi Jacquie,

Was Tweakui involved?
Launch TweakUI (Win98 Ver), and on the IE4 tab make sure that the
"IE4 enabled" box is checked.

For TweakUI version 1.33, on the IE tab - Check "Shell enhancements"

Thank you for your reply, Bert, but I can't find TweakUI
anywhere on my computer. Should it be there or is it an
add on?

Hi again Bert
I downloaded TweakUI ver 1.33 and followed all the
instructions about putting it into its own folder etc. but
it won't launch. I get the message that it should be
launced through the control panel and it asks for the
disk. Of course I don't have a disk so I'm stuck again.

I think I've discovered one main problem. I'm running Win
98 Second Edition and it didn't include and doesn't
support TweakUI. So, obviously, that wasn't involved in
losing my Quicklaunch toolbar. Hmmm .. where to go now?
What on earth could I have done?

There would be a Tweakui icon in Control Panel.

Unzip the Tweakui file you downloaded and put the files into a new folder.
Right-click the Tweakui.inf file and then click Install.
Follow the instructions on your screen to install the TweakUI tool.
NOTE: To use the TweakUI tool, click Start, point to Settings, click Control
Panel,
and then double-click TweakUI.

Tweakui 1.33 works just fine in Win98SE. I have it installed here.

If you have not installed it, install it. Go to Control Panel to open it.
I Shell enhancements is unchecked, check it.

If it is checked, uncheck it, reboot and then recheck it and reboot again.

If that doesn't do it, this would be the next step.
