Something changed all of a sudden, maybe when a game was
loaded for my kids....

One day fine, the next all windows are too large for the
screen. As a result, on some windows I can't select the
options on the right hand side and in some cases am unable
to move the scree left. I tried the Display Settings but
this makes the entire screen way too small even with the
next smaller setting. What do I need to do??

Do this. Restart in MS DOS and at C:\Windows> type

scanreg /restore and hit enter. The system will locate
and display your registries from the last couple of days.

this will alot you to restore a registry with no errors.
Pick the registry from the day before or 2 days before.
It should correct your settings.

Right-click a blank area of the desktop and choose Properties / Settings.
Adjust the screen area slider to a larger, not smaller, value. Larger area
means more room for screen objects such as windows and icons.

Right click on a blank area of the task bar and select any of the following:

Cascade Windows
Tile Windows Vertically
Tile Windows Horizontally

This should get your windows back on the screen.
