Whenever I try to close a webpage which has been opened
from another webpage (i.e by following a link), the
computer tries to shut down with the "how do you want the
computer to shut down" screen, and the internet connection
is dropped. I cancel the shut down instruction, and the
desktop reappears. I then try to reconnect to the net, but
it can't be done. I've also lost various icons at the
right of the toolbar (the volume and HotKey icons for
example) by this time.
Closing a page which I've opened from the Internet
Explorer icon causes no problems.
I've run the computer through Norton, AVG and Symantec
virus checkers - clean bill of health from all.
Anyone out there with any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Andy Smith.

This may be one of those circumstances when an IE repair may help:
