View Full Version : hover buttons won't display

wonder if anybody can help: seems as though in my "zeal" to delete files and
"free up" some much needed disk space, I must've deleted a needed file
because now IE6 won't display "hover buttons" on web pages. (and
occasionally, regular pictures in web pages won't display) Yes, the settings
in "internet options" that concern Java seem to be OK. Does anybody know
which file might be missing? This is a real "pain" since I use "Front Page"
a lot and have to see the hover buttons working. I have to go over to
another comp. and actually go to the webpage to know if the hover buttons
are working. thanks for any help. I have Win98 original edition.

I use internet explore and am having problems with the
buttons in my hotmail account. They are not displaying
and i cannot send out mail. I have talked to a few other
people who have windows 98 and they are having the same
problems. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Maybe it is
not your computer but IE instead.

No, everything used to work before I deleted files. Good luck getting MS to
do ANYTHING for Win98.

thanks,

I think I should re-install the Microsoft VM, unfortunately, I must be one
of those "unlucky" ones who can't get the VM from the "Windows Update" site
'cause it doesn't list that update. I guess I'm "out of luck", huh?

thanks,

If you don't want to install the SUN VM I think you need to read the 2nd
link again ;o)

OK,Sandi, I DID load the MicrosoftVM with no change. So, what I'll try now
is restoring IE6. (Java is included, right?) Since I already have IE6, will
the setup program allow me to install IE6 again?

thanks,

Can you provide a sample URL with precise instructions pointing to exactly
what is not loading. I want to make sure we're not labouring under
misapprehensions.

OK, Sandi, I'll try:
Let's use my website as an example, www.dvbaudiorestoration.com. I have
"hover buttons" on each page. If you look at the "source" html, you'll see
that some "applet" code called fphover.class needs to run in order to
display the button. Whatever software that runs .class programs must be
missing from my pc.THAT software must be what I have to replace, huh?
Interrestingly, (maybe NOT interestingly for someone who knows what they're
talking about) JAVASCRIPT seems OK, because the date display on the homepage
works.

thanks,

Yep, that's java vm, so we're working on the correct problem. Try
installing the Sun Java VM (we're all going to have to bite the bullet and
do it eventually anyway). See if that works for you.
