Bootable disk

When I start Windows 98 I am requested to insert bootable disk. Why should I
suddenly get this message

If you experienced a power outage it can affect your
BIOS settings . . .
Standard setting is to look for booting code to
1. floppy
2. CD drive (if available)
3. hard disk.
