PDA

View Full Version : UNABLE TO HIBERNATE

I have WinMe. I have all of the necessary tabs checked in the Power
Management tab, (control panel). I even have "deep sleep" checked in System
Tools>System Configuration Utility (Is that a problem?).
I am running Zonealarm, Avg, Qwik-Fix Pro, Giant Anti-Spyware, Adwatch and
Pestpatrol MemCheck at Startup.
My Power button on my computer is set to "hibernate" if I want to manually
hibernate my computer and of course, in the "shutdown" box, "hibernate" is
selected, however, regardless of the checks and tabs, my computer will not
hibernate. When electing to hibernate, the computer prepares for
hibernation, flashes as if to hibernates, then immediately returns to
Windows.
I have even searched for "nohibertxt.", which does not seem to be in
Windows, on my computer, nothing.
I cannot seem to figure out what the problem is? Can you help?

Probably due to a hardware device (modem, USB device, etc., etc.,).
Disconnect one at a time to see if that helps.

Try the MS Knowledge Base and advanced search for "hibernate" in the WinMe
OS Product.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?ln=EN-US&pr=kbinfo

Just 'wade through' the mass of stuff there and see if anything might apply
to your PC.

Just in case you were looking for the wrong file the filename is
nohiber.txt rather than nohibertxt.
