Problem with internet connection

My Pc connects to the internet ok shows all the flashing
connection sugns, but when I try checking e mail it just
sits on the connecting screen. Also similar problem with
internet explorer this trys to connect and just returns
with an unable to connrct message. But system is still
connected to internet and no other operating problems
with PC.
