View Full Version : Can't change screen resolution

I've got a 5 year old Gateway computer that I reformated the HD and put Win98
back on. I used the original restoration disks so I have all the right
drivers. This computer has a Intel Tolstoy motherboard w/intergrated sound
and video. Now my problem is when I change the screen resolution to 800x600
or 1024x768 it states that I have to Shut down before the change will take
effect. Just like everything is OK. When I shut down it's right back at
640x480 with 16 colors. Device Manager says I have a "STB Velocity 128"
adaptor and it has the proper drivers. I know that the drivers are right
because I've downloaded them from 3 different sites and they are the same
file. I had higher resolution before reformating the HD so I know the adaptor
and display can do it. Spyware or Virus' are not an issue unless the
survived the format. Any ideas out there

You probably need to update your motherboard chipset drivers. They should
be available from Intel or Gateway.
