Bootsector Write Virus

[MikeDiamond1234]

Previously Windows 98 was installed on my machine (presumably FAT partition).
Due to problems with Windows 98 starting up, i decided to re-format the C
partition on the hard disk but kept getting the message
"BootsectorWriteVirus, Continue y/n?". Is there any procedure I should use in
order to clean this virus, if it can be, that is..?

check your bios settings
it may just be that your bios has bootsector write (or virus detection)
enabled in the
bios which you will need to disable

it is normal for the windows installation to write to the bios

if you do not have virus protection enabled in the bios
and it looks like you really do have a bootsector virus

you need to bootup with your win98 floppy
then issue the command: fdisk /mbr

Changing the BIOS anti-virus settings to disable solved my problem. Thanks
again.

You should change that setting back to what it was after finishing the
installation and before going on-line.
