Computer Associates released a new version of EZ Armor day before
yesterday, though the advisory emails are being parceled out (my brother
received notice yesterday, I got mine just a bit ago.) I did the update
last night, and it didn't go smoothly, but that's likely due to my
system being the way it is--overdue for a rebuild. Also, the link to EZ
Armor in various of CA's pages aren't yet updated. The new version is EZ
Armor r3.1, and the instructions for updating vary depending on what you
now have installed. How in heck you can determine what version of EZ
Armor one has installed escapes me--gonna have to have another talk with
those folks!

Here's the instructions pages:
For those running any version of EZ Armor older than v. 2.4.4 (EZ Armor
2005):
http://crm.my-etrust.com/login.asp?username=guest&target=DOCUMENT&openparameter=1838

For those who already have EZ Armor 2005 (v 2.4.4) installed:
http://crm.my-etrust.com/login.asp?username=guest&target=DOCUMENT&openparameter=1348

Download it here, if you have any problems, or if you are somehow not
subscribed to update advisories or didn't get yours yet:
http://consumerdownloads.ca.com/myeTrust/apps/EZArmor_3_1.exe

Thinking about it, the safest way is to assume you need to uninstall
Armor before updating.

This version of EZ Armor includes the latest EZ Antivirus and the latest
Firewall. For some reason, those who subscribe only to EZ Antivirus got
this version some time ago (well, the latest AV version was released on
the first of Feb., but it's v. 7.x whereas until now EZ Armor only
included v 6.x), and for "licensing reasons" they hadn't been included
in EZ Armor until now. Don't ask me, I'm only relaying what they told
me. AFAICT, the latest version of EZ Firewall that's included here has
not yet been released as a stand-alone app. I still have to devote some
energy to giving those folks some serious feedback. Not only is their
site still a royal PITA to navigate, they are still sending out emails
that are worthless when read in plain-text only. I'm also going to
suggest that the simplify their licensing schemes.

For those who are running EZ Armor LE (the free trial version) there is
not yet an update, apparently. There is a page listing the limitations
in EZ Armor LE (besides it being an older version) here:
http://crm.my-etrust.com/CIDocument.asp?KDId=80&GUID=CBB8B91ED1714A579E25C2B7ED067D34

or here: http://tinyurl.com/6zq5m

Some interesting, additional trial options are there if you are using
LE. Get the one-year trial version of EZ Armor (LE) here:
http://www.myetrust.com/microsoft

30-day trials of all eTrust products can be found here:
http://store.ca.com/dr/v2/ec_main.entry25?page=TrialwareCenter&client=ComputerAssociates&sid=35715

aka http://tinyurl.com/5ldb3

(And no, I don't get anything out of pushing eTrust products. I like
eTrust products because of their quality, it's that simple.)

Thanks Gary. I had trouble dealing with EZ Armor in relation to a forgotten
password and it took about five days to finally fix the situation. I hope
you can get them to provide better customer service. Godspeed! :> Dan W.
