Hi

I have disabled all power management options on my 98 system. The computer
no longer crashes all the time.

A few years ago when I was more into computing I was aware that power
management did make systems rather unreliable.

Now we are a few years on - are there any solutions out there - so you can
use power management on a 98 system without it crashing the computer on a
pretty much daily basis?

Cheers
Gavin

Historically, problems with power management have as much to do with
hardware as anything else. Any software improvements that you allude to
are in Windows XP. But my rule still is, and always will be, "If it
works, great. If it doesn't, don't use it." Typically, Hibernate and
Standby are the most problematic, followed closely by screensavers.
Suspend Video or Hard Drive functions don't usually cause problems.
