Is there anyway to recover from accidentally
hitting "Mark all read" after a new postings download?

Not to get back to where you were previously, afaik. You can do a
Ctrl-A > "Mark as unread", of course.

Bill is right, but you can also sort on "Received" and then only mark
those that came in after a certain time/date as "Unread".

Goodness gracious!
Of course.
If this is a "senior moment" and is reflective of the process of ageing,
then I am certainly not looking forward to it.
Thanks BTW

Well, my advice wasn't complete. In order for that sort to work, you
also need to uncheck "Group messages by conversation" in View\Current
View menu (presuming you usually have "Group..." checked.)

Alas, yes, it does sound as if you were experiencing a "senior
moment"... Not sure if it will be welcome news to you, but such moments
are not only caused by age--they're caused by excessive exposure to
computers, also.
