I have received this question from one of our senior members:

I run a W98 PC from Packard Bell with 63Mb of RAM.

I have a problem with my CD-ROM drive in as much that each time I insert a
CD either music or data CD the system re-boots. Once rebooted I can access
the CD ok but as you can imagine it is rather in convenient.

Can anyone offer me any advice with this please?

Hi,

Probably is either a bad CD drive or a failing internal power supply; of
course there could be other causes, but I would try swapping out the CD
drive with a known working one first, if you have one available to do
that with.

May as well...

I guess one of those can do it, if in a root directory on a hard
drive, such as "C:\" or "D:\". It does not belong on a hard drive.
