DVD Burner

[Scott McKinney]

Hi. I am looking for a DVD burner. I have never purchases
one before and have no idea what to look for in one. Is
there a way to copy DVDs now a days? If so, what program
do I use and what type of burner do I need to get? I know
nothing about doing this but I really wish I have the
capability too. What type of burner do I need? What type
of media do I need? Please advise, direct me on how to do
this and what burner I need to buy. Please send me an

Expect to see dual/ double-layer DVD burners in just about every desktop PC
sold in 2005, even in budget systems. These drives let you copy full DVD
movies with no loss of quality, back up a whopping 9GB of data on a single
disc, and even plug a DV camcorder directly into a drive to burn DVDs.

The one problem for now, but on past trends will be only temporary, is the
significant difference in cost between singles layer and double layer
media. For example you can currently buy, here in the UK, good quality 8x
single layer media for less than 20p (about 36¢) whereas the cheapest dual
layer is around GBP3.5 (about US$6.5).

Check the Plextor web site www.plextor.com They have single and dual-layer
DVD burners as well as in IDE or SATA connection.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I touch a DVD-burning program, something
goes horribly wrong. Or nothing happens. Or a combination of the two occurs.

You can have DVD burning two ways: simple and limited or arcane and
flexible. Or at least, that's the conclusion I'm forced to draw after
sampling a bunch of retail and shareware DVD-authoring and -editing tools.
