I've accumulated quite a number of icons on my desktop and I've
noticed recently they are slow to come up and some of them just show
the Windows icon until I right click on Refresh. I can't seem to find
any Icon Cache in the registry; is there a way to fix this?

The registry has no icon cache. The Win Me icon cache is the file
ShellIconCache (no extension) in your windows folder. You can safely
delete this file and reboot and it will be rebuilt. Where the registry
comes in is that there is a setting there which controls the size of the
icon cache. The easiest way of increasing the number of icons that can be
cached is to download the registry patch IconCacheFix from
http://www.aumha.org/reg1.htm and merging it with your registry.
