disk utility has drive locked

After running disk cleanup, I was unable to access one of my drives.
Scandisk was unable to check the drive because it says a disk utility has the
drive locked. I have no other disk utilty on my machine. Is there some way
to unlock that particular drive?

Try it in Safe Mode
