I recently encountered a problem with Windows 98 and
connection to the internet. I have been advised that I
need to tell Windows not to see my HP1270 Ethernet Card
(NIC), restart my computer and then tell Windows to see
the NIC card. I'm lost .. can anyone coach me in how to
do this procedure. From what I understand, it's like
uninstalling and reinstalling the NIC card without
physically taking it out of my computer. Your responses
would be greatly appreciated.

Susan,

This question is best asked in a group devoted to your operating system, but
the advice you were given was confusing. What you need to do is delete the
NIC from your hardware list, reboot and then let Windows redetect it.
