First of all, apologies if this post is off topic and for the cross posting
but it does concern *WindowsXP* and *Windows ME* as I'm running a dual boot
Windows ME/Windows XP Pro (SP2) system.

My post relates also to how to use Norton Parittion Magic to delete a
partition with an existing OS on it. I can't find a Symantec (or other)
newsgroup dealing with Partition Magic.

I have Windows ME and Windows XP Pro (SP2) installed on individual
partitions; I want to eventually delete or uninstall Windows ME and use the
resulting space as a spare partition or add the empty space back to the
partition with XP

Eventually I just want Windows XP Pro on my system.

Any advice is appreciated.

What does the Partition Magic documentation say?

You have an alternative solution once you have merged the two partitions
(requires a third party program). Virtual PC 2004 will allow you to run ME
on your XP desktop, provided that your copy of ME is a retail version and
not one preinstalled on the computer (with only a restore cd).

You will be able to communicate between both OS's and move files between
them. You should have at least 384mb of ram to make this work well. The
hard drive space needed on the expanded XP drive is only a fraction of the
space now being used by your ME partition. Of course, you may not have a
need for ME at all, but if you do (older games, etc), then consider VPC.
