I recently split up my C:\ drive with Partition Magic. Most
of my games were in the C:\Program Files\Game Name. Now all
my games are in E:\GameName. Most of my games work, but a
few(ones who need DirectX) have extremely bad graphics(they
have to use software acceleration) or don't work at all.
Those games are: Carmageddon 2, Dance With Intensity, Grand
Theft Auto 2, Powerslide, Sub Culture, ans Warzone 2100. I
already tried to reinstall DircectX. I also tried to
reinstall some of the games, which also didnt work. Thanks
in advance.

Hi,
Uninstall the games, reboot and then reinstall them. If that doesn't
help, try the games newsgroup-- you'll find it listed on the left side
of the web page-- someone there may have experienced the problems you
described.

What the other poster said about uninstall and reinstall
should work.
You partitioned the C: drive. Games ended up on E:
What is on D:?
When you partitioned? Did you defrag HD first?
Have you tried to reload the video and sound drivers?
DirectX needs to be on the OS drive.
Run the DirectX diagnostics.
In most games. If you put in the CD and right click on
the game icon in MY Computer. In the dropdown list should
be DX Diagnostics.
You don't need to do anything on a reinstall of DirectX.
Just install it over the old one. 8 and 9 will check for
missing or damaged stuff and install as needed.
A reboot, after,is best even if it does not ask for it.
Post back.

I already tried to uninstall & reinstall on some of the
games, which didnt work. I used partition magic, and i
defraged about a week before i seperated the drive. Now my
computer looks like this:
A: Floppy(removable)
C: System (Windows and system utilities)
D: Media (Music)
E: Games (Games)
F: Special (Temp, temp internet files, and recent doc)
I tried reinstalling DirectX and video drivers but I will
reinstall my sound drivers. Thanks for your help.

What sizes are each drive?
If you have all your game CDs this is what I would do.
First format E: drive. You can do this by opening My
Computer and right click E:icon... in the drop down list
should be Format.
You will loose everything on E:.
Now move your Music files to E:. If you are using WMP?
You will have to reset it's direction to the E:drive music
folder through WMP's options.
After that is done. Do a format on D: drive.
Relaod all your games on to D:. Their install routine
should have an option to change download path. Make a
seperate folder for each game and name that folder as the
game.
Say I were going to download Starcraft. I would first
open D: drive though My Computer. Click on "File" at top.
Move to "New" and click on Folder. I would then name that
new folder Starcraft. Then at download I would change the
download path to D:\Starcraft.
Do this for every game.
I play my games across one partition. Don't know how it
works across two. It may not make a difference at all.
But I do know the games play just as well on D: as if
they were on C:.
And I know WMP has no problem playing music from E:.
