How can I view the files (if any)in the _restore folder? I go to my c
drive, tools, options, folders, view and check show hidden files and
folders. I open the _restore folder and I have 3 dat files and 1cfg file
(diskcfg, srdiskid, vxdmon & vxdmom. If I use the MSDos prompt, cd to
c:_restore, I get the same results......... By the way, I have system
restore deactivated for the time being.

If you r-click on the C:\_Restore folder icon, and select Properties - what
does it show you as being the contents?
How did you disable SR? - there should be a number of subfolder in the
C:\_Restore folder - \Archives, \Temp, \Extract, \Log and \SFP.
Did you also allow viewing of System files and folders??
You really need to enable the viewing of file extensions - it makes life a
lot easier when trying to troubleshoot (and the rest of the time too!)

You need to not only check "Show hidden files and folders" but also
UNcheck "Hide protected operating system files" to see the contents of the
C:\_RESTORE folder.
