Hi. I’ve had problems with Norton Antivirus on my pc. I think I pretty
much know how top mend it (I’m not very pc literate), except I can’t
find my Windows ME disk and it says I can use the ’install files’ on
my hard drive. I’ve pasted the instructions from the Norton website, I
just wondered what I should type it instead of ’d:\winme’ in the box
in order to get the files from the hard drive instead of the CDROM.
Thanks
Windows Me
Uninstall Norton AntiVirus, restore Imagehlp.dll, register
Wintrust.dll, and then reinstall Norton AntiVirus
To uninstall Norton AntiVirus
On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Click your version of Norton AntiVirus. If Norton AntiVirus is
installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security,
then select that program.
Click Add/Remove and follow the prompts.
Restart the computer when you are prompted.
To restore Imagehlp.dll
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
Note: You must use an original Windows Me CD or the install files on
your hard disk to restore the Imagehlp.dll file.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
Type msconfig and then click OK.
When the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears, click the
Extract file button...
Type imagehlp.dll in the box below the Extract one file from
Installation disk entry.
Click Start.
In the Extract File dialog box, in the "Restore from" field, type
???? d:\winme ????
You may need to modify this location if the drive D is not your CD-ROM
drive.
In the "Save file in" field, type c:\windows\system and click OK.
When you are prompted to create a backup of the file, note the
location of the Backup folder, and then click OK.
When you see the message "The file has been successfully extracted,"
click OK to complete the process.
Restart your computer if you are prompted to do so.
