Something new for the kiddies to add to their Scum Fighter arsenals. But,
perhaps most of you already know of this. Interesting though.

forward). ;o))

Shame on you, Ms. Jan......it is Beta!! Go read some of the comments on the
antivirus groups, grin. I don't think they are too impressed with the
glitches.

Now why did I know I'd be hearing from you...?? ;o))

That's why I added the (Beta) to the end of the subject line. <grin>
Yeah...I've also been over to the a.c.a-v and other av groups to see what
they had to say about it. It appears that thoughts are rather mixed on it.
Since it is a Giant and not an MS product, some are not as reluctant to try
the Beta version. But, from what I've been reading, I'm going to wait and
see if the rabbit dies before I try it. <vbg>

Sounds like there will be a bit of fun with it for a while to come. It will
be interesting to see where it leads.

Heh!! Yeah......I finally got up the nerve to install it. It was like
deciding if I wanted to open Pandora's box! ;o)) But, I put it on another
drive all by itself so's it won't interfere with anything does it decide to
get pushy or testy. ;-)

Ahh ha! Thanks for the heads up. I've decided to start using it more so I
can learn how it feels to be really miserable. <vbg>

Affirmed! Got a new bottle of Southern Comfort this afternoon. Lessons
begin as soon as the anesthetic is fully administered. ;o))

Ive been looking in to xp. What do you mean of the above.

Noel Paton
January 10th 05, 06:43 AM
Jan is multi-booting three Operating systems (ME, Win2K, and WinXP) - IIRC,
she has both Win2K and Win XO in NTFS partitions/drives.
Win ME and Win XP have System Restore - which monitors specific filetypes
for changes and backs them up.

In Win ME, there is no option to ignore partitions - but it can't see NTFS
partitions so doesn't do anything about the files in the W2K or WXP OS's.
In XP, it can see all the partitions on the PC - and can therefore monitor
for changes. - it may therefore change things in the alternate OS's that
should not be changed - with very unpredictable results.

The best option therefore in XP is to set it to ignore the host partitions
for other OS's - In fact I always set it to ignore every partition except
for the active host, so that no changes to my data are monitored (I keep my
data on a different partition to my OS),
