Do all your normal systray icons appear properly?
Check systray loading by moving the mouse to lower right hand taskbar area.
If there is an hour-glass mouse pointer,
wait for the normal mouse pointer to appear.
Then start your word processing programs.
Does re-booting again solve the difficulty ?
