My McAfeeAvert Stinger, Version 2.4.6 built December 14, 2004
tells me that the product is outdated and to go to the specified website
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger for an update.

Harry.

That's because v2.4.7 is out since 1/3/05.

No real changes. The only change is...

1/03/2005
- Increased expiration date

Dave:

I've looked around and didn't find any posts on this subject.
Must have missed it if there was one.
Truly sorry about that.
Promise to do better next time.

Harry.

That's OK, Harry - the site is not that clear.
Another shameless plug -

A few years ago AntiVirus ware, McAfee et al, at the instigation of MS,
switched to annual licensing of their software. Before that you bought
it you owned it. Now you just get a 1 year license. I bought McAfee
VirusScan 5.21.1000.1, I think the last of the buy it - you own it
versions. If someone is still selling it that way then I suggest you
seriously consider it. McAfee's shrill "Your AV protection is
obsolete" is misleading and. imho, unethical. They should simply say
you're license has expired, its time for your annual donation to McAfee
/ CAI. Until they humble up and drop the strong arm tactics we should
look else where. Or check ZoneAlarm, a great product, and I hear they
have an alternative AV.

Happy New Year
Bob

ps I do not own stock nor work for any of the above.

Actually you are wrong.

John McAfee the originator of the McAfee software created a new software concept.

Give the software away and sell the DAT signature file by a yearly subscription. That was
ago in the DOS world and Microsoft played no part ion this shift in software distribution
methodology.

Dave:

Obviously one never can ask too many questions or
make too many 'mistakes'.
Look what became of this one!

Harry.

Thank you Silj, for being compassionate.
Not many people are capable of it.

Harry.

Hi Harry,
That might be a bit of an overstatement but you're welcome
just the same.

Regards,
Silj

For the record: I don't think it is, Silj.
You wholly deserve it.

Harry.
