Hi, well I`ve got a little problem, i`ve a IBM pc, i dont know the serie
exactly, and somehow some drivers have desappeared, i`ve repared the others,
but the cursor dont appear, in the Managment appears a little "?" on the
mouse... like if the driver were missing, i installed a standard genius
driver, but it didnt work, what else could be? and if there exist a download,
from where could i get it ?, or where can i get the right driver.... I must
say that the OS is having some problems, and is like a lil slow. Even some
dll problems, i think it got damaged by some virus... but well, any idea of
what could i do to fix the problem ???.
Thnx to all, take care ;).

You can download mouse drivers from the manufacturer:
http://www.geniusnet.com.tw/download/Driverlist.htm

The loss of the mouse and the other problems you are experiencing are more
than likely the side effects from the damage done by 'some virus'. I'm a
little concerned that your post is so vague on this which leads me to think
that you do not have an anti-virus program with up to date definitions
running on your computer. Download AVG from www.grisoft.com , install and
download updated definitions and run a full system scan. Do the same with
Spybot Search & Destroy from www.safer-networking.org
If the damage to your system is severe you may have to consider formatting
your hard drive and re-installing Windows.

Thnx for ur advice Steve(sorry for my shoort explanation but i dont speak
english so fluent and i was a lil confused of how could i explan all that),
actualy the pc is not mine, is from a friend, and well he just left it
without antivirus for a long time, it is not a normal problem that the cursor
would desapear; each time that i start using it more errors come up about
..dll's and it's also slow to open some programs and windows like the "HELP"
one even it freezes.

I`ve already scaned it with norton, and also panda, in both detected several
adwares, and some virus, specially norton did, it found arround 256 spywares,
and 6 virus and from all those only 1 got fixed, i`m a lil worried about the
situation, coz the OS seems to be very infected and damaged.

I was also thinkin in the option of format it, but i`ve got another question
which made me not to do it, and lets see if someone knows what can i do or if
i might proceed without problem, as i said is an IBM and those companies have
their oun way to start, can i just format it with a single XP or ME CD, or do
i have to get an IBM CD to format it so i wouldnt get any starting trouble?,
like in the Compaq PCs, they need a special CD to be able to format and
reinstall the OS. Does anyone knows if i need to do that with the IBM?. I`d
be very thnxfull if u answer this question!.

Tnx to all.
Dulce.

To format the hard drive you need to boot the computer with a WindowsME
Startup disk and select the option for CDROM support.
This article explains the procedure for formatting and re-installing Windows
better than I can:

Good luck
