Is there any way I can transfer stuff from one computer to another
using a usb cable and in DOS? I cannot get into Windows or Windows
Safe Mode because of some disk errors, and I’d like to backup
everything before trying solutions that could affect my computer.
Thanks all.

Probably not USB. However, you can using a NIC and IPX/SPX or TCP/IP. For example, you
could load NDIS2 drivers and the MS DOS NetBIOS stack.

For years I've used a phone cord and modems and terminal software. Type ATD
to one modem and ATA to the other then transfer using Xmodem or whatever
protocols the software offers. You could dispense with the modems if you
connected them with a serial cord with a null modem in the circuit.

I don't know about machine-to-machine. There are DOS USB drivers available if
you wanted to hook up a USB drive, though. See http://www.bootdisk.com/usb.htm
for example.

If you really want to go system to system, I've had fair success with
INTERLNK.EXE, though I haven't used it in a couple of years now.

But for the specific problem you're trying to solve here, usually, I'd attach
another drive and backup to that, even going so far as to move the drive to the
other computer.

I was also going to say - take the drive out of the un-bootable one and put
in the other.
