Tonight I am operating my Windows 98 se in the SAFE mode because both 800 X
600 settings and 1024 X 768 Pixles display setting now cause the computer to
shut off. I am in the 640 X 480 setting now and in 16 color mode. My
computer is one of the last last Quantex sold I think, I don't believe they
are around at all any more. I realize it must be a driver but is it video
board drivers or "other"? Some one mentioned generic windows drivers, so:
Does anyone know what the name and number of the driver or drivers that I
may be needing? All I need is everything, I guess, so in addition to what
it is and where it is, how do I remove the old onee and how do I install the
new one.

The driver you need is for your video adapter card. This may be a plug-in
card or it may be a part of the motherboard chipset. It might be described
in the machine documentation or you may be able to determine it from the
message that appears on screen immediately after power-on (before the BIOS
information screen appears). You might need to look inside the machine.

The generic driver is probably the one currently installed. It gives basic
functionality for almost any video adapter, but you need the correct one for
your hardware to get the advanced features.

Try and locate any discs that orignially came with the machine. You'd be
surprised how a support disc will disappear. If unavailable try doing a
google search for Quantex. There is a site that I came up with doing this
search that might help. Your main objective is to find out what adapter card
is in the machine and install it.
