View Full Version : Legitimate startup files

Where can I find a list of legitimate startup files
required for Win to run properly?
Specifically what are Wteh - trea.exe and WNST -
winsapisu.exe
I have been unchecking items to disable spyware - I also
edited things from the registry, which I now regret doing
as Windows explorer seems to be malfunctioning. I am in a
catch 22 - If I can't use explorer to copy files, I can't
do a backup before doing a system restore. Don't you just
hate spyware!!!
Any advice greatly appreciated

You can look here for a bit of insight.
SysInfo.org - Startup Applications:
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php
The two files you mention are not regular files and if you have those
names correct, then they are bound to be virus or parasite files.

Before suggesting any Recovery method for your system, you mention "Recovery
CD". What make/model machine do you have? Do you have a CD burner? How big
is HD? How much free space? Using FDISK, check partition info--is there some
kind of hidden partition? Any discrepancies between reported disk size and
partition sizes? Does it all add up?
