Hi My win 98 has crashed, and I can not restart it. I have installed windows
xp pro on same computer which works fine. I would like to be ablet to get
documents from the my documents in win 98. I can see all the files in the
folders of win 98, but can not find the my documents. Any suggestions. Thanks
Tim

Is there a reason why you cannot move those files into the "My
documents" folder of WinXP?

The "My Documents" folder in WinXP is a subfolder under the folder
with your name that is in the folder named "Documents and Settings".
You can just drag the files you want to access into this new "My
Documents" folder.

The "My Documents" folder that you used to use in Win98 is a folder in
the root directory of the C: drive. You have probably looked there for
it, but if you have not, you should do so. Try going to Start/Run and
entering "Command". Then use Command.com to look at the root directory
of C:.

However, I recommend that you should not just move the old "My
Documents" folder into the new "My Documents" folder (because you
would then have one "My documents inside another) but rather that you
should move the CONTENTS of the old "My Documents" folder into the new
"My Documents" folder.
