Valerie,

What files did you delete? Can you remember any ? Some would help.

Brothers

My brother's pc is doing the same thing. The only files
I can find in the root C: directory is the command.com
i.e. no config.sys or io.sys. I've run sys c: from the
backup disk, it says file transferred but still can't
find the files. If I type win from the prompt, it says
himem.sys is missing (also says this on scanreg), but the
himem file is there in c:\windows and I've also extracted
it from the cab files on the cd.

Any ideas?

Io.sys and msdos.sys are hidden files. Enter this:
dir /a /o /p
They should be there after a SYS C:
There may be no config.sys, it's not needed for Windows.

From the Dos prompt enter Path.
does it include C:\windows\command. ?

Do you get into windows if you enter this:
C:\windows\win.com

Enter MEM /C
Does it show all your memory?
