Is it true that there are no drivers at all for usb 2 cards that will work
with the original win98, and that you have to have win98se to use usb 2?

Yes, more or less: Win98 included USB v.1 and
Win98SE includes USB v.2. Unconfirmed rumour
says a few USB 2 devices can be enabled by the
USB 1 code in Win98 so you can always try in
your particular case.

AFAIK Win98 does not include USB 2.0 drivers but will support them, =
which you must get from the manufacturer of the device.

That is not correct. Win98SE does not have any native support for USB 2.0...both
Win98 FE and SE have native support for USB 1.1 only. Both Win98 FE and SE can use
USB 2.0 cards that have Win98 drivers included on a disc.

No. Neither Win98 FE nor SE have any native support for USB 2.0...both Win98 FE and
SE have native support for USB 1.1 only. However, both Win98 FE and SE can use USB
2.0 cards that have Win98 drivers included on a disc.
