My task bar has moved to the left side of the screen. Help says to catch it
with the mouse and drag it back to the bottom. But I can't. Is there some
special place the "catch it" and drag it?

An empty place. Not on the task 'buttons', start button, system tray or
quicklaunch area.

Any blank spot on the bar will do.

Press the left mouse button, hold it down, drag the bar, and release it
when a ghost outline of the bar appears across the bottom of the screen.

If that does not work as it should, you need to start looking more closely
into WHY this suddenly happened.

Have you run a virus scan with up-to-date definitions since it happened?

Try putting your cursor at an empty space NEAR THE CLOCK. Then Press the
left mouse button, hold it down, drag the bar where you want it, and
release.

Hmm. It shouldn't be, BUT...

Save Settings On Exit Option Enabled by Default

Setting the NoSaveSettings field to 1 prevents your settings from being
saved. When you set this value, the following items are not saved when
you exit Windows:

Changed icon positions on the desktop.
Windows that are open when you exit.
The size and position of the taskbar.
....End quote.......

Also, Glee will often say a trip to Safe Mode & back will move it to the
bottom.

Thanks everyone, but nothing works. Maybe someday it will correct itself. I
just live with it on the side until then.

Hi,

Did you try PCR's suggestion of booting into safe mode and then back to
"regular" Windows? That has never failed for me, no matter where a
client managed to move the taskbar to.

You are welcome. Right, as MM seconds it...

(a) Boot to Safe Mode.
(Hold F5 as you boot, or hold CTRL for the Startup Menu.
Alternatively, turn on the Startup Menu at "START, Run, MSConfig,
Advanced button.)

(b) Boot to Normal Mode.

That should do it. After that, can you move it the normal way?
