Hello,

I installed DirectX 9.0b but I shouldn't have since my video card
doesn't support it. No driver updates are available neither.

How can I get 8.1 back?

Thanks

Fredrik

DirectX 9.0a and above will overwrite any earlier versions and you
cannot 'officially' remove it. There are many third-party utilities
that may perform this task - this can help if your installation was
corrupted. Search Google for 'DirectX Uninstaller'. you might find a
utility which would help you..or simple go back to the last saved
registry settings if you have saved one of course..that might help..

You cant roll back to directx8 after installing directx9 and above.
But which video card r u using...unless u r running win95 there
shouldn't be a problem..the direct X should not cause a problem but
wont give u the features available in directx9.

Sounds like a plan........but where do you find the installation files for
the earlier versions of direct X?
I'd like to go back from 9.0C to 9.0B as the upgrade has caused problems
with RealMedia's .RAX files.

This worked for me. I uninstalled 9.0 C and went back to 8.1.

http://www.superfoxs.com/

I tested two other apps (DirectXBuster and the other I don't recall),
but they couldn't uninstall 9.0 and above.

Not that is imperative, nor matters I guess? ..but I wondered about the
punctuation on that websites webpages, and wondered quietly, boy if they
don't care about how they punctuate their pages properly - I hope it
doesn't mean they do the same with their coding of the program..

...if it's just a matter of a different language speak and english
punctuation difference then no problem I spose

The developers name is ChanYao. So I guess he/she is from China.
However, the program is better than his/her english...

I have 8.1 back and ran Dxdiag and all tests passed. No system
instability whatsoever. So it seems that the program did what it should.

I love the Orient actually, and greetings to ChanYao.
I would offer to him/her the English idiom corrections if they wanted.

I meant no disrespect of course, but just wondered about the english
esthetic presentation.

I'm glad it works well for you, and glad you let us know, and of course
I've saved the program in my keepers folder for if I even need it.
