Patch and Update troubles

After the crash I was unable to reinstall xp on my laptop. Win 98SE is the
only OS it will let me install. I am trying to get updates and patches to
stabalize 98, but have not been able to get online with the laptop. Can
someone tell me how to download the patches and updates onto my desktop using
win xp and transfer them to the laptop.

These may not include all, go to MS Updates as soon as you are able to =
get there for any further updates if available.
Go directly to the Corporate site which IIRC does not include IE =
updates:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp

For IE UD's:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/default.asp
