I am having a problem with my computer running Windows 98.
When it starts up, a message is displayed:
While initializing device VKD -- Windows Protection Error -
- You need to restart your computer.
When I restart my computer, the same message appears. I
went to Microsoft's support site, it suggested to
disconnect the keyboard and reconnect it. It did not fix
the problem. I tried another keyboard, which I am sure is
a good keyboard, and I have the same problem. Have anyone
had this problem before? Can anyone help me?

Also, I tried to reinstall Windows 98, but for some
reason, it hung after it displayed the message: Copying
files needed for Windows Setup...

I am so lost. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with
my computer?

Thank you so much for your help.

Run HDD diagnostics , could be it has bad sectors, I like Seagate's
Seatools as it will work with any brand HDD.
