When opening programs, etc. they open fine, but do not
fill the entire monitor screen. Is there a way to make
everything come up and completely fill the fill the
screen, without having to click on the maximize icon in
the upper top right of the screen.

Would appreciate any help on this.

Jack,

If you are launching an application using a shortcut, locate that
shortcut, right click and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab you will
find a box labelled "Run". Use the arrow to the right of the window and
you will find a drop down box that allows you the choice of opening that
application as one of Minimized, Maximized (which is what you want) or
Normal Window. Normal Window meaning that the application will open using
the last used non maximised window size.
