View Full Version : Unknown prog running in background

Using Win98SE. Something starts running after 2-3 minutes at rest.
CNT-alt-Del "Close Programs" dialog box left showing on screen is the only
thing that stops it.
Sounds like HD is searching for something. Normal clicking sounds.
Screen saver is set for 15 minutes.
Task Scheduler is disabled.
Windows Calendar reminders are off.
McAfee is off.
Close Programs says only Explorer and Systray are open.
System Tools >> System Information >> "Running Tasks" shows a ton of stuff
running.
Wuts the deal here ?? Who's lying to me ?

Is there a way to detect EXACTLY what is running and stop it ?

Thanks for any assistance.

Jim
