I've recently been clobbered (from all four sides) by "something"...
I've bought and installed TrendMicro Pinicillian (Sp?) and run it
frequently;
Also SpyBot Ver 1.3;
My PC is just d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g v-e-r-y s-l-o-w---
Did start, run msconfig
In my StartUp tab I notice a bunch of files (about 30+)
samples,,, (ALL CHECKED - but not by me!!)
MFCVG.EXE
MFCIW.EXE
D3IG.EXE
MSXX.EXE
D3YK32.EXE
NTSX.EXE
.......
on and on

Can anyone lead me into a meaningful exercise that will
get me back up to the spedd limit?

Thanks in advance...

I don't believe those are legitimate files. While a Google search reveals
nothing specific about them, when they are mentioned, it is by people having
problems with spyware. Google is your friend--use it when you have
questions.

I suggest you get the scanning programs below and for AdAware and Spybot,
make sure you update the definitions (signatures) before running the scans.

AdAware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

CWShredder: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html (download
link near the bottom)

You could also try some on-line scans to check for virus:

Try running an online scanner or better yet the free F-Prot for DOS =
along with the latest definitions obtained from the same page.

Online virus scanners:
