I found the following item checked but I know it was not there before. What is
it and is it necessary?

mdac_runonce C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\runonce.exe

See http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_m.htm

It's harmless and unneeded so you can uncheck it. Do *not* delete
runonce.exe!

It is an oversight. It is part of an install procedure.
It should have been deleted, but somebody forgot
to include the code to do so. It is not needed.

Thanks one and all, I was fearful of a virus and did not think about a program
remnant. Lidia
