My son has a computer that he purchased used and there is
no OS disk, just Windows 98 loaded on it. He is adding a
wireless card and the computer is asking for a file from
the OS disk. Is there any way to take care of this
without purchasing a new OS?

Search your hard drive for a number of CAB files.

Use WIN98*.CAB as the search term.

If found, point the install to that folder.

I would say that your son got screwed. Who would buy a computer
without the OS CD? Well, maybe someone who had a CD with the OS.

He didn't get screwed, he bought a computer from a
graduating senior at college for $25.

Cos sometimes manufacturers sell PCs without an install OS CD so the son
most probably HASN'T got screwed at all.
