I was trying to use the CD on a IBM 300PL with 128 MB Ram,
a 663 Mhz processor, and 10Gig Hard drive. It has windows
98, and I can not find the CD ROM, the BIOS looks OK but
when I go to Device manager I receive an error when I
check the status of both the Primary and secondary IDE
Controllers. A Yello explanation mark drew my attention to
this. The status states Primary IDE Controller dual fifo
"The device is not present, not working properly or does
not have all the drivers installed (code 10). This is the
same message I receive from the Secondary IDE controller.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tried some advice from this board and in Safe mode removed
all IDE controllers. When it restarted it installed all
controllers and came back up the same way. Any ideas.
thanks in advance.

Perhaps your machine needs custom drivers for the IDE controllers. Check out
the IBM website for your model and see if motherboard or IDE controller
drivers are available for download.
