I have these problems on 3 machines, any solutions?

I think my company's network was recently infected by a
virus. Although the virus has now been successfully
removed, some of the Windows 98 client machines are now
having problems. I believe the virus was capable of
corrupting or deleting boot files and drivers.

I've got three of these PCs set up in my office at the
moment.

PC 1. When this machine attempts to boot from the hard
disk it reports that the system disk is invalid. What is
the most likely cause of this?

PC 2. This machine appears to boot correctly until it
reaches the desktop initialisation stage. At this stage
the display becomes corrupted and unreadable. From memory,
I can shut down the system. What's wrong here?

PC 3. This machine starts to boot and then comes up with
the message "Invalid VxD dynamic link call from IFSMGR
(03)". What is the most likely cause of this?

Can you suggest the fastest way of solving each of these
problems?

Thanks for your advice, I'll follow the links you've
kindly provided.

To answer your request to be more specific about what
appears on the desktop:

It's a blue screen displaying: 2Invalid VxD dynamic link
call from IFSMGR(03)

Original problem given on PC 2.
This machine appears to boot correctly until it reaches
the desktop initialisation stage. At this stage the
display becomes corrupted and unreadable. From memory, I
can shut down the system. What's wrong here?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi - Follow the instructions on the link for the other PC of yours that has
the IFSMRG error.

If at all possible, upgrade each PC to XP Service Pack 2.
